Yo...What a great post full of so much information. Your photos were quite a surprise seeing the basically empty shelves. But I guess I shouldn't have been surprised with all we knew about the country. You certainly had one of the most unique visits to Cuba at such a historic time. While there I felt I was an 'outsider' not to be trusted, not a welcome guest/tourist, at least I was not treated as an ATM ;) This was while the Sandinista (FSLN) regime was in power. Hope our relationships with these (and all) countries improve.Jeff Piercehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11254493317843044109noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4260822222423395104.post-62186546782928461982017-05-14T22:43:02.850-05:002017-05-14T22:43:02.850-05:00The Cubans seemed very friendly and giving to each...The Cubans seemed very friendly and giving to each other, but honestly, many seemed very guarded to foreign tourists. When they weren't guarded, they were pushing for a handout. Hans said he felt like we were "walking ATMs" to them. Certainly, there is some of that in Mexico too, but more often than not, Mexicans are genuinely much more warm and welcoming to foreigners.Lynne (WinnieViews)https://www.blogger.com/profile/17043666828785051719noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4260822222423395104.post-49345814306816648332017-05-14T21:40:42.609-05:002017-05-14T21:40:42.609-05:00What a historic time to share in the history of Cu...What a historic time to share in the history of Cuba. Did the death of Castro interfere with your ability to gain a feeling of the people? You've described so well the open people of Mexico, friendly and giving. The beauty of their Catholic churches. Just curious if those latin traits were also prevalent in Cuba. Thanks for taking us along on your most unique adventure.Jeff Piercehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11254493317843044109noreply@blogger.com
