This New Mexico Christmas Eve tradition began hundreds of years ago with the belief that these pathways of light would help guide the spirit of the Christ child to one's home or church.
I didn't stop tonight to photograph each town's display, but did happen to capture Socorro's wonderful luminarias a few weeks ago when they were first lit up.
May the light and spirit of Christmas be guided to your home on this special night (and every night).
Merry Christmas everyone!
And a very Merry Christmas to you Lynne. May all the Joy and Happiness find you in the new year too. My son (a 31-year resident of Socorro) thanks you for the beautiful pictures.

We drove into Alamogordo tonight as were amazed at the sacks lining the streets! Did not get to see them lit. Even the RV park had them.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see your lovely photos of Socorro. I was shocked at the weather news this evening about New Mexico. Not sure exactly where you are, but, if you're in the path of the blizzard, batten down the hatches....or something!
ReplyDeleteBelated Holiday greetings and wishing you a most spectacular 2016. Love, love your photos.
